Kris Allison

Kris Allison, ERYT-200

Kris has had a life-long interest in anatomy and movement. Before beginning her career in yoga, she earned a BA and an MA in physical anthropology. Her studies focused on the evolution of our species and how primate anatomy and movement patterns have evolved over millions of years.

Kris began practicing yoga in 2001. She quickly realized yoga was the best medicine and support for her struggles with anxiety and depression. Kris credits yoga and her first rescue dog, Greta, with forever changing her life and path for the better. The healing benefits of yoga inspired her to complete her own training so that she could share these benefits with others. She completed her teacher training in 2006 at the school of Hot Yoga in Washington, DC and has been teaching full-time ever since.
Kris believes that ongoing education for teachers is extremely important. She continues to study anatomy and therapeutic applications of yoga in order to evolve and better her own practice and instruction. Kris enjoys teaching gentle yoga and challenging flow classes that have a strong alignment focus to both prevent and heal injury.

When Kris is not teaching or practicing yoga, she enjoys: gardening, hiking with her pups, reading, and cooking up a storm.
